Created in 2023 by anglers Martin Montejano and Amanda Hoffner, the Heritage Tenkara Project was founded on the idea that nature should be accessible and appreciated by all.
Something indescribable can be found by being in nature, and many of us find a deeper connection to nature through fishing.
It is for that reason, we set out to create a free resource to encourage inclusivity and growth within the angling community.
Whether new to fishing, new to tenkara, or an experienced angler, we aim to bring content that inspires adventure and articles that bring about creativity so that our readers may find their place in nature through tenkara.

Join us for the 5th annual Tenkara Bug Out where we will explore fishing with traditional Japanese style tenkara rods. This years location of LaPine, OR will give us access to some world class water including: the Fall River, the Deschutes River, the Crooked River and the Metolious River. If you like big fish energy, some of these rivers hold 20"+ fish as well as some fish weights hitting double digits. If fishing smaller more intamate settings is your vibe, we got you covered.
