3 Years of Heritage Tenkara Project

Three years ago today we published our first article on our new (at the time) website!
Since then we’ve had the opportunity to meet and talk with great people, and like-minded anglers. We’ve had the honor of sharing the insight of those anglers through articles focused on certain topics. We’ve also been able to share some of our knowledge with the community through in-person events such as the Tenkara Tanuki Boot Camp, and the Oregon Tenkara Bug Out.
As we move into the fourth year of the Heritage Tenkara Project, we take a look back at some of the highlights from the past 365 days.
Articles
We had mentioned that we’ve been able to share insight from other anglers in the community, and one of our most popular published posts over the last year was one in which our contemporaries shared a little about their angling style with tenkara. From the tactics to the gear, this article scratches the surface of how different anglers take different approaches to fishing their favorite waters.
Another of our most viewed posts was from our first guest-writer in a long time. Ivan Zoot shed some light on fixed-line fishing for bluegill using a tenkara rod. He also shares some of his tips and tricks for targeting panfish in a still-water setting.
Last, but not least, we had the opportunity to talk with Chris Zimmer of Zimmerbuilt, and share a little back story of how he found himself running a business designing and making packs for fishing and hiking.
Events
Over the past year, we’ve had a great time meeting new people, and spending time with friends at different events. We’ve been fortunate enough to be able to help with and participate in some fun and exciting things. The Tenkara Tanuki Boot Camp in the Eastern Sierras, the Tenkara Bug Out in Oregon, and the Rocky MTN High Desert Camp Out are just a few.
Looking forward to the next few months, we’re excited to be a part of the DRAGONtail Tenkara Wyoming Camp Out, as well as host our first “Women’s Tenkara Gathering” in Brevard, North Carolina!
