Tenkara Resources: Tenkara Angler

In all honesty, we are long overdue to share one of the staples for tenkara content here in the states - Tenkara Angler.

Originated by Mike Agneta, a long-time angler who discovered tenkara shortly after getting into fly fishing, Tenkara Angler has served as a place for the community to share stories, gear reviews, and so much more!

From the roots of a personal blog, inspiration grew from featuring other anglers who had adopted tenkara early after its introduction here in the states, and soon Mike had created a platform for the tenkara community to showcase artwork, stories, photos, and more.

Eventually, a test issue was published. From there it became a quarterly publication until the website became the focus of efforts revolving around Tenkara Angler, which brings us to the present day.

What we love about Tenkara Angler is the fact that there is so much community-based content that creates the very foundation that this long-standing platform is built upon. As we mentioned, among the extensive depths of published posts on the website you will find everything from gear reviews to personal recollections of experiences fishing with tenkara rods. There is plenty to read on the website, whether you’re looking to learn from other anglers sharing their approach to fixed-line fishing, or to live vicariously through the written stories of backpacking trips and visitors travelling to and from abroad to fish, it seems there is really something for any level of angler with any interest in tenkara!

Even though the focus is on the website, there’s still something for those who prefer to read printed, physical publications as Tenkara Angler reintroduced a yearly printed magazine, of which, can be ordered at any time. Regarding how to get your work published, there is usually a period of time toward the end of the calendar year where the Tenkara Angler team sends out an open invitation for those who would like to contribute to the next printed issue. And, for those who find more inspiration throughout the year, there is always a link to submit content to be published on the website.
